How to Become a Professional Athlete in BitLife
Quick Answer
To become a professional athlete in BitLife, build your character’s hidden Athleticism stat from childhood, join a school sports team, and then turn pro through the draft or a team tryout after graduation. The bitlife sports career lives under Special Careers as the Pro Athlete path, and it needs the Pro Athlete job pack (or Boss Mode, which includes every job pack).
School teams themselves are free for everyone — the pack is only needed when you turn professional. This guide covers the full road from a sporty kid to a famous pro.

BitLife Sports: What Does a Professional Athlete Do?
A professional athlete plays for a real team in a league, trains and practises every season, and signs contracts that can grow into millions. Strong seasons also raise your Fame and build a hidden Greatness stat — the game’s way of marking the all-time legends.
Which sports can you play?
Professional leagues cover the big team sports: soccer, basketball, football, baseball, hockey, rugby, and volleyball, with men’s and women’s leagues. Each sport has its own teams, leagues in different countries, and positions to choose from when you try out. The BitLife Wiki keeps detailed notes on the leagues and teams if you want to plan your career country by country.
The Pro Athlete job pack
Turning pro requires the Pro Athlete job pack, an official paid pack — it is also included in Boss Mode. The pack also unlocks the Athleticism special talent, which makes the whole path easier. How these packs and bundles work is explained in our guide to BitLife Premium and God Mode.
Joining a school team and even becoming its captain does not need the pack. You only need it at the moment you turn professional.
Step-by-Step: How to Become a Professional Athlete in BitLife
Step 1: Build Athleticism From Age 8
Athleticism is a hidden stat — you normally only see it when you try out for a team. Raise it early:
- From age 8, do Martial Arts and take long walks (choose the speed walk, for the longest time) once a year, every year.
- From age 12, add the Gym once a year as well.
- Keep your Health high with good habits. By high school, your athleticism should be close to its maximum.
If your character has the Athleticism special talent from the job pack, this step is much easier — but hard work gets any character there.
Step 2: Join Your School Team and Become Captain
- In school, go to School → Activities and join the team for the sport you want to play professionally.
- Practise every year and use the Work Harder option for your team. Coaches notice effort.
- Aim to become team captain before you graduate. Captains attract professional attention, and a strong school career is the best advert you can have.
Step 3: Get Drafted or Try Out
After graduation, there are three doors into the pros:
- A direct offer. Standout school players are sometimes approached by a professional team right after graduating. Accept and you are a pro.
- The college draft. Go to university, join the college team in your sport, practise hard, and you become eligible for the draft when you graduate. College players usually sign better first contracts than players who turn pro straight from high school.
- A team tryout. At any time after school, go to Occupation → Special Careers → Pro Athlete, choose your league and team, pick a position, and request a tryout. If you go undrafted, this door stays open — but it is generally harder to get in without a recruiter’s interest. Drafted and signed players relocate to their team’s country.
Step 4: Build a Long Pro Career
- Use Practice and Train every year — each one only needs doing once a year to give its full benefit.
- Play on a winning team and keep performing, and your Greatness stat will open up and grow.
- Renew and renegotiate contracts as your fame rises. Pro careers are short compared to normal jobs, so the money habits in our guide on how to earn money in BitLife matter here.
- Be careful with Performance Enhancer offers in your job menu. They can boost your stats, but a failed doping test can get you banned for years — or end your career entirely.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Starting fitness work too late
A character who first sees a gym at 17 rarely has the athleticism pros need. The stat is built across childhood, not in one summer.
Skipping the school team
Trying out cold, with no school or college record, is the hardest route in. Team years, practice, and the captain title all raise your chances.
Gambling on performance enhancers
The boost is real, but so is the ban. A clean career with steady training lasts longer than a short, boosted one that ends in a failed test.
